July 29-31

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir all three days and my clients and I caught northern pike, wipers, white bass, walleyes, channel catfish, and largemouth bass. We caught these fish on a Carolina and a drop shot rig using gizzard shad, ¾- and 1-ounce Lytle's Secret tailspinners, ProMinnow swimbaits, 5-inch flutter spoons, and topwater plugs. They were caught around main lake points, underwater humps, road beds, edges of creek channels, flats next to deep water in depths of 28 feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the mid 70s.

July 28

I fished with my chiropractor at his sand pit lake in the afternoon, and I caught a Master Angler largemouth bass at 21 inches. We also caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 10 and 19 inches. We caught these fish around points, edges of weed beds, and underwater brush piles using football jigs with a Strike King Rage Craw, and a Spro Bronzeye Frog.

July 27

I fished at Red Willow Reservoir for about three hours in the mid afternoon. I caught good numbers of white bass up to 14 inches, wipers up to 23 inches, a 30-inch northern pike, a 17-inch largemouth bass, and a 12 -inch crappie. I caught these fish on a ProMinnow swimbait and a 5-inch flutter spoon around main lake points, underwater humps, edges of a creek channel, and near the dam areas. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.

July 25-26

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients and I caught northern pike up to 36 inches, white bass up to 13 inches, a few walleyes and wipers, and a 26-inch channel catfish. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, road beds, edges of creek channels, and back in a deep cove in depths of 28 feet or less. We caught these fish on a Carolina rig using shiners, 5-inch flutter spoons, and a Pro Minnow swimbait. The surface water temperature was in the upper 70s in the morning and warmed up to the lower 80s in the mid afternoon.

July 23

I took my friend from Colorado fishing at a private sand pit lake in the late afternoon for a few hours. We caught a little over a dozen largemouth bass between 16 and 19 inches using a ¾-ounce football jig with Strike King Rage Craw around deep points in depths between 18 and 28 feet of water.

July 22

I took my friend's 5-year-old daughter fishing at a private sand pit lake for a little over an hour in the late afternoon. She caught largemouth bass up to 17 inches, and bluegills up to eight inches, using Berkley Gulp! Nightcrawler around points, edges of weed beds, and underwater brush piles.

July 20-21

I guided both days on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients and I caught three Master Angler northern pike between 10 and 14 pounds. We also caught smaller pike, walleyes up to 18 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, wipers up to 22 inches, channel catfish up to 28 ½ inches, largemouth and smallmouth bass between 12 and 16 inches, a few nice crappies and freshwater drum. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, edges of creek channels, underwater road beds, coves, and near the dam areas in depth of 28 feet or less using a Carolina rig with live baits, ¾- and 1-oz. Lytle's Secret tailspinners, 5-inch flutter spoons, 3- and 5-inch ProMinnow swimbaits and topwater plugs. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.

July 18-19

I guided the same clients both days at Red Willow Reservoir and my client caught a Master Angler northern pike at 37 inches. We also caught smaller northern pike between 24 and 33 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, wipers up to 20 inches, few channel catfish up to five pounds, a few largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and a fresh water drum. We caught these fish on a Carolina rig using live bait, Lytle's Secret tailspinners, ProMinnow swimbaits, 5-inch flutter spoons, and topwater plugs. The fish were caught around underwater humps, edges of creek channels, underwater road beds, main lake points, coves, and near the dam areas in depths of 25 feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.

July 16-17

I fished with my chiropractor at his private sand pit lake for a few hours in the afternoon on both days. We caught largemouth bass between 11 and 19 inches, and a channel catfish that weighted a little over 20 pounds using ProMinnow Swimbaits, 5-inch flutter spoons, and plastic worms around deep points, underwater brush piles, and edges of deep weed beds.

July 10-15

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir all six days and my clients and I caught 25 Master Angler fish including 22 northern pike between 10 and 17 pounds, two wipers at 28 ½ and 26 ½ inches, and a 32-inch channel catfish. We also caught smaller pike between 24 and 35 inches, wipers between 13 and 23 ½ inches, white bass up to 14 inches, channel catfish between two and six pounds, a few walleyes up to 20 inches, and a few largemouth bass and freshwater drum. We caught these fish on a Carolina rig with shiners, Lytle's Secret tailspinners, topwater plugs, 3 ½- and 5-inch ProMinnow swimbaits, and 5-inch flutter spoons around underwater humps, main lake points, underwater road beds, edges of creek channels, and near the dam areas in depths of 30 feet or less. The surface water temperature is averaging in the upper 70s in the morning and in the lower 80s by mid-afternoon.

July 8-9

I guided the same clients on both days at Red Willow Reservoir and we caught 14 Master Angler Northern pike between 10 and 16 pounds. We also caught smaller pike, wipers up to 22 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, an 18-inch walleye, and a channel catfish using a Carolina rig with shiners, Lytle's Secret tailspinners, 5-inch flutter spoons, 3 ½- and 5-inch ProMinnow swimbaits, and topwater plugs. We caught these fish around underwater road beds, underwater humps, main lake points, edges of creek channels, the mouth of a cove, and near the dam areas in depths of 28 feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.

July 6-7

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients and I caught nine Master Anglers northern pike. We also caught smaller pike, wipers up to 22 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, a few walleyes up to 20 inches, a largemouth bass, and a channel catfish. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, underwater road beds, and edges of creek channels in depths of 28 feet or less. We caught these fish on a Carolina Rig using shiners, Lytle's Secret tailspinners, 5-inch Flutter spoons, 3 ½- and 5-inch ProMinnow swimbaits, topwater plugs, and a jigging spoon. The surface water temperature is in the upper 80s.

July 5

My son Jeremy, brother Tim, and my cousin and his son, and I fished below Medicine Creek Reservoir in the spillway and the creek. We caught white bass, wipers, largemouth bass, and a northern pike using Lytle's Secret tailspinners, ProMinnow swimbaits, and flutter spoons.

July 4

I took my two sons fishing at a private sand pit lake for a few hours in the afternoon. We caught good numbers of largemouth bass between 13 and 19 inches around the drop off next to points, and edges of deep weed beds in depths of 25 feet or less. We caught these bass on a football jig with a plastic craw trailer, and a Texas rigged plastic craw. The water clarity in this sandpit lake is very clear.

July 3

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients and I caught two Master Angler northern pike. We also caught smaller pike between seven and 10 pounds, wipers up to 21 inches, a few small walleyes, and a largemouth bass around underwater humps, underwater road beds, and edges of creek channels in depths of 28 feet or less. We caught these fish using a Carolina rig with shiners, 5-inch flutter spoons, and ProMinnow swimbaits. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.

July 2

I guided on Medicine Creek Reservoir. My clients and I caught walleyes up to 18 inches, white bass up to 14 inches, a few catfish up to 20 inches, a largemouth bass around three pounds and a small crappie. We caught these fish on Lytle's Secret tailspinners, flutter spoons, and 3 1/2-inch ProMinnow swimbait around underwater island, points in a cove, and edges of a creek channel that swing next to the rocky shoreline in depths of 15 feet or less. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s, and the water clarity is stained.

July 1

I guided on Red Willow Reservoir and my clients caught a Master Angler wiper at 30 inches and a 36-inch northern pike. We also caught smaller pike between 28 and 35 inches, wipers between 15 and 22 inches, walleye up to 21 inches, and white bass up to 13 inches. We caught these fish around main lake points, underwater humps, underwater road beds, and edges of creek channels in depths of 30 feet or less on Carolina rigs with shiners, 5-inch flutter spoons, Pro Minnow swimbaits, and topwater plugs. The surface water temperature is in the upper 70s.
