Which lake you fish at will depend on a variety of factors such as what species you are interested in catching, which lake currently has the best numbers, and weather. If you have your heart set on fishing at a particular lake, Steve can let you know what the fishing conditions would be like on that lake for that time of year.
If you need to reschedule your trip, please let us know as soon as possible so you have a better chance of being able to get an open day. If you do not let us know that you need to cancel by the day of your trip, the $100 deposit will not be returned. If the weather is going to be bad on the date booked, we usually reschedule to the next open date. If you can't, we will return the $100 deposit. If bad weather comes in during your trip, causing the trip to end, Steve will charge for the hours fished and work with you to reschedule to make up for the rest of the time you missed in your trip.
Clients should bring:
Be sure to check the weather forecast ahead of time and dress appropriately. You can talk with Steve a few days before your trip to inquire about weather conditions as well.
You may bring your own lunch, but if you don't want to bother, you can take a break off the water for lunch at the local marina or nearest restaurant. Talk with Steve about lunch when you book your trip.
Wiper fishing requires sturdy tackle in top working condition. Bait casting and spinning reels with an excellent drag system, spooled with 10- to 14-pound test monofilament line, will be adequate for battling powerful wipers. Feel free to bring your favorite rod and reel, if it's up to the task. Otherwise, Steve will be happy to provide the gear you need to enjoy your trip.
Steve works very hard to provide his clients with an excellent fishing and learning experience, regardless of their skill level. Steve's trips are family friendly for children and adults of all ages!

Visit McCook/Red Willow County Tourism and McCook Chamber of Commerce to find great places to stay, eat, and shop in the McCook area. There are a few hotels to chose from, and most of the area lakes also have camping options available as well.
McCook is located in the southwest corner of Nebraska, not far from the Kansas border. Below is a map showing McCook and the locations of each of the lakes he guides on.
